17k pounds would have been worth over $250 million and now the leader of the drug cartel is on the run.

According to Colombian Defense Minister Luis Carlos Villegas, three members of Clan Usuga, the country’s largest drug-trafficking organization, were detained. Over 2,000 law enforcement officials are currently searching for the group’s leader, Dario Antonio Usuga David, also known as “Otoniel”. The wanted drug-lord is said to have drawn comparisons to Pablo Escobar for the cartel’s reach and the magnitude of violence his clan is known for. The United States has put up a bounty of $5 million for David’s capture.

Blackhawk helicopters were reported to have raided a banana farm 300 miles north of the capital of Bogota before dawn. It was in underground structures of the land that they discovered 359 bags of the blow, estimated to be worth $250 million said Colombian National Police chief Gen. Jorge Nieto. The drugs were reportedly being harbored for shipment to the United States.

Sounds like the making of a new Netflix series.
