We all know how persistent college coaches can be when trying to nab a star player they want. But when you’re about a decade removed from high school, and one of the best players in the NBA, maybe it’s time for coaches to quit the pursuit.

Ohio State University threw the wild neck to none other than Ohio-native LeBron James when they presented the two-time champion with his very own locker in their brand new, state-of-the-art locker room – as if this would sway him to finally go to college and play for the Buckeyes. LeBron took to Instagram to share the exciting news saying,

SPECIAL S/O AD Gene Smith, Thad Matta, Urban Meyer and the rest of this unbelievable University we call “The Ohio State Buckeyes! O-H.. #ColumbusStandUp #Braxton4Heisman #WishIHadTheChanceToWearScarletAndRedInTheRoseBowlAndMarchMadness

While this certainly seems like Ohio State is sucking up to the King, just imagine any time they bring a recruit into that room. Seeing LeBron’s name and number surely has an effect on any kid in high school, especially considering that he’s the best in the world.

There’s no doubt that if LeBron went to college, it would have been at the Ohio State University. He’s a hometown boy, and even though he took his talents to Miami in 2010, he will always just be that dude from Akron. The real questions is, would he have played football there?
