Your mother was right when she warned you that drinking too much soda would rot your teeth, as a 25-year-old who drank six to eight liters of soda everyday has lost all of his teeth.
William Kennewell is a 25-year-old who has an addiction that is not commonly thought of in that light — soft drinks.
The Australian from Salisbury North ignored warnings from dentists, who said his excessive soda consumption was rotting his teeth.
Kennewell has since had all of his teeth removed and replaced with dentures.
“I’m told a normal person has about 23 teeth, but … I only had 13 left and they had to be removed,” he said.
“It started because I wasn’t a huge water fan and working in the hotel industry, I had easy access to Coke.
“Because my teeth were decaying so badly, it caused blood poisoning which just made me sick, but my health improved with the dentures.”
The health issues presented by massive consumption of soft drinks has been the cause of concern for some time now, with some going as far as banning large soft drinks from being sold.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg implemented a controversial ban on soft drinks larger than 16 ounces last year.
With the health risks posed by the sugary drinks, maybe the ban is the way to go.
