If you’re fighting to look younger, the solution to your problems may lie within the sheets and require a partner, as a new study reveals having regular sexual intercourse can make you look up to seven years younger than you actually are.

Dr. David Weeks says older men and women with active love lives look between five to seven years younger than their actual age.

While we aren’t quite there yet, starting these healthy habits should be done sooner than later!

Dr. Weeks, the former head of old age psychology at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, says people of all ages should understand the benefits of having an active sex life.

Sex

Over his decade-long survey, Dr. Weeks discovered those who looked younger had, on average, sex 50 percent more than those who looked their age or older in the 40-to-50 age group.

Don’t think your sex life will end just because you’re getting older, either!

“The stereotype of an elderly person is that when they get their pension and bus pass, they stop having sex and that’s not true,” said Dr. Weeks. “Sexual satisfaction is a major contributor to quality of life, ranking at least as high as spiritual or religious commitment and other morale factors, so more positive attitudes towards mature sex should be vigorously promoted. “Sexuality is definitely not the prerogative of younger people and nor should it be.”
