It was just a terrible pass. We have no reason to believe that this shiny-domed gentleman was engaging in any inappropriate heckling towards Joe Johnson.
This was in London at the O2 arena between the Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks, and a pretty terrible incompletion overall.
It’s not the best way for the NBA to endear itself to British fans and I’m sure the Nets want that possession back. But! It did work out into a play that the British fans will never forget.
Joe Johnson is a pretty big dude, listed at 6’7″, 240 pounds. It was a smart read of the defense, as Kyle Korver was coming from the baseline to help Jeff Teague double team JJ. This left Alan Anderson wide open, and he was the intended target for JJ’s pass.
