After shattering the record as the highest box opening day ever with a staggering $100 million USD, Star Wars: The Force Awakens breaks yet another standing as the fastest film in history to exceed $1 billion USD. Announced by The Walt Disney Co. today, the latest Star Wars installment has raked in an unprecedented amount in just 12 days. Prior to this, the record was held by Jurassic World, which accomplished the same feat back in June with a close-cutting 13 days. Keep in mind, also, that the film hasn’t even debuted in China yet. Set for a January 9 theatrical release, the film is expected to continue breaking records as China is considered to be the second largest film market in the world. The force is strong with this one, indeed.
