Yes, Iverson has lost millions but the rumor is he’s still wealthier than the average ex NBA player and his current savings and endorsement deals are worth much more than what’s being reported. Yes, a NBA contract is probably a longshot, at best, but there’s no shortage of offers to play in other pro basketball leagues and events. Yes, he is struggling with the fact that his NBA career might be over with and probably has gone through periods of depression but no more than the majority of ex athletes that don’t have money coming in and a dedicated fan base that keeps their name alive. We don’t often hear their dark stories of loss, depression and thoughts of suicide because the honest truth is the media and most fans just don’t care to hear them.
Iverson can still be heard and videos like the one above will keep him alive in the hearts and minds of basketball fans for decades no matter what he does with his life after basketball because to most of us his life was just basketball.
