Apple held an event today at the California Theater in San Jose, California to announce a slew of new products, including the much-anticipated iPad Mini.

The event started with Apple CEO Tim Cook speaking of the incredible success Apple has enjoyed so far in 2012.

“Yes, it has been an incredible year,” Cook said. “With all of these new products and these applications and cloud services, this has been a truly prolific year of innovation for Apple. We hope that you love these products as much as we loved creating them.”

Cook let the audience know that in the first weekend, over 5 million iPhone 5s were sold, with over 200 million people updating to iOS 6, the fastest adaptation of any software upgrade in history.

Cook went on to speak of new upgrades to apps, including iBooks.

After some dancing around the salivating audience, who were anxiously anticipating the announcement of the alleged iPad Mini, Cook brought out Phil Schiller, who delved into the updated Apple product line, which had some surprises. The first product refresh announced was the 13-inch MacBook Pro, which is now an unthinkable 0.75 inches thin when closed, 20% thinner than the previous model.
