A Malaysia Airlines flight was shot down in Ukraine as it flew over the Russian border just a few hours ago.
It’s not clear where the missile came from, but most news outlets are quoting sources saying it was launched by either Russian forces or pro-Russia Ukrainian separatists.
Airspace over the Ukraine and Russia border was closed to civilian aircraft on July 8 due to the ongoing clashes between separatists and Ukrainian government forces.
All planes are supposed to go around the border rather than over it.
The Boeing 777 was traveling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 295 people onboard.
