A vending machine could soon appear in New York City taxi cabs: and it would sell condoms, Advil and even USB cords.
The wall-mounted vending machine made its debut at a Manhattan bar on Monday, as the credit card-only machine at the Village Pour House near Union Square currently sells gum and mouthwash, and will soon feature condoms and Old Spice cologne.
“People are here a lot of times to meet new people of the opposite sex. It’s important to have fresh breath and smell great,” said creator Brian Shimmerlik speaking to the New York Post on behalf of Vengo.
The machines will soon be placed in taxi cabs, and the company hopes 10,000 will eventually be installed.
“The purpose is to update the vending machine of the ’80s,” Mr. Shimmerlik told the Post. “They’ve become extinct.”
The New York City Economic Development Council offered a $17,500 grant, and other small donors contributed to launch the project.
Swiping your card and getting some condoms in the taxi will save you time and let her know what the deal is before you even hop out!
