HARRISBURG — He never gave up the dream.
Harrisburg’s Danny Lansanah signed with the New York Jets on Thursday, the latest chapter in a football odyssey that’s taken him from the National Football League to Canada, Hartford, Conn., and Las Vegas; and now back to the NFL.
The linebacker appeared in five games for Green Bay in 2008.
“It’s been a long time coming,” said Lansanah of returning to the NFL. “I kept working; and working hard. I knew my chance would come. A couple of times I wanted to give up; but I have great parents and a great support (system) that just stayed on me.
“They told me keep working and I kept working — and the call came.”
Lansanah, who trains regularly at Explosive Sports Performance in Lower Paxton Township, worked out for the Jets on Friday. He had been playing for Las Vegas of the United Football League until the league shut down in October.
The signing will likely be announced by the Jets in the next couple of days.
After playing for Green Bay, Lansanah also attended training camps with the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins, respectively.
He was originally signed by Green Bay as a non-drafted free agent in 2008 after being named first team All-Big East at Connecticut.
