Germany-based Baumraum has constructed a series of modern treehouses that offer an escape from the surrounding urban areas. Located in a tranquil setting, this experimental research project is located in the district of Zehlendorf which is southwest from Berlin’s city center, and preserves the existing tree population on the 650 square meter site making it a perfect blend of contempoary and eco-friendly design. The treehouses’ walls, ceiling and floors are constructed out of five-layer spruce panels, while stability is provided by the aluminium composite panels and galvanized steel sections. Hovering at a height of about 4 meters, the individual units offer a comfortable 21 square meters of living space that is complete with a kitchen, sleeping quarters, and washroom facilities, as well as storage and utilities space located at the base of the structure.
