It is all fun and games until you have to go to court and you are looking at some real time behind bars.
That is what is happening to Fake Doctor Malachi Love-Robinson.
The Palm Beach County teenager accused of masquerading as a doctor and raiding the bank account of a “patient” has a month to decide whether to take a plea offer from prosecutors calling for three years in state prison.
Circuit Judge Krista Marx set a hearing for June 20 should Love-Robinson decide to plead guilty instead of going forward with a trial now planned to start July 18.
Assistant State Attorney Michael Rachel informed Marx about his plea offer, which includes serving five years probation upon his release from custody. The prosecutor doesn’t want the case dragging out because the main victim in the case is 86 and in poor health.
The pros of taking the deal is it would cut off at least five years off his jail sentence if he was found guilty.
The cons are if he takes it to trial and the jury feels the punishments don’t fit the crimes they could find him not guilty or find him guilty of a lesser crime.
