In what sounds like something out of a biblical tale, a South Carolina family discovered a snake in their home with a head on each end of it, a beast they say is very real.
While it has been common to find snakes with two heads at one end, this case is a little different.
The two heads apparently take turns controlling the body.
Each head is complete with two eyes and a fast-moving tongue.
The small snake was found by workers at the home of Savanna Logan and her brother Preston, who are fascinated by the animal.
The kids having been bringing their new pet to school to show it off to their friends since it was found three weeks ago.
The snake has been identified by the biology department at nearby Ware Shoals High School as a rough earth snake.
“One head’s is bigger and more dominant than the other, but they both seem to control the body,” said the children’s mother, Tina Stewart.
“The main head will do one thing and then the other part’s trying to go in the opposite direction.”
The snake is not poisonous to humans.
The small snake’s primary food source is earth worms and small arthropods, and it ranges in size from nine to 14 inches.
The children have debated on what to name the snake.
Preston told Fox Carolina: ‘I want to name it Billy Bob.’
His sister chimed in: ‘I’ll just name it Oreo.’
Maybe they’ll agree to disagree and each name one head of the slithering creature.
