A German farmer who just wanted some sunflowers apparently planted the wrong crop, and found himself with a field of the sticky icky icky instead.
Neighbors of the 74-year-old Bavarian man in Mömbris tipped police off, and the authorities questioned the man as to why he had 1,000 cannabis plants, some up to three meters in height.
The unnamed farmer said he spread some bird seed in order to plant some sunflower seeds.
What the man didn’t know is that the seeds consisted of a mix of sunflower and hemp seeds, which yielded the trippy plants, plants the man had never seen before.
“This kind of thing has never happened in the area before,” a police spokesman told Germany’s The Local. “He only wanted a few nice sunflowers.”
Narcotics officials said the cannabis wasn’t potent enough to yield a significant high, but they asked the man to run over the plants anyway.
On that note, I’m going to buy some bird seed.
