A Johns Hopkins Hospital gynecologist has been accused of secretly videotaping his patients with a pen that hangs around his neck, according to the employee who reported him.
The employee informed hospital officials of her suspicions on February 4th, during which she alleged Dr. Nikita Levy had been recording his patients with a hidden camera embedded in pen he wore around his neck.
On February 5th, Hopkins security personnel questioned Levy at his office, and devices similar to the one described by the employee were discovered on site.
Levy was barred from patient contact that day, and was escorted off the premises. Police were notified the following day.
According to police, the 54-year-old Levy killed himself in his home on February 18th. More than 2,000 patients and former patients of Levy have called a hotline set up by the hospital, according to the police.
Class-action lawsuits have been filed against the hospital. It is unknown whether any of the footage has been sold or posted on the internet.
