Because pharmaceutical companies can’t make money off patients who die two to five years after developing the condition, there is no reason for them to develop a better treatment, he says.
Carbajal says that ALS has been hidden from sight because it’s so painful to watch.
He says,
Nobody wants to see a depressing person that’s dying. They don’t want to talk about it. They don’t want their day ruined. People are getting frustrated about seeing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge right now and that’s fine, that’s fine. It means our awareness is working.
