While you may think the invisibility cloak is reserved for the Harry Potter books, think again, as a scientist has made waves in anticipation of the unveiling of his invisibility cloak.
Dr. Baile Zhang has innovated the cloak, and says it’s more of a fun hobby item than a serious physics breakthrough.
Dr Zhang showed off the macroscopic invisibility cloak at the TED2013 conference in Long Beach, California on Monday.
While the device may resemble a box more than a cloak, it is about the technology, which can be bend light around itself so it can go unseen.
Dr. Zhang developed the box by attaching two pieces of calcite – a carbonate mineral that can bend light – together.
He came up with the idea in 2010, and this is the first unveiling of it.
