Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, who became famous on MTV’s “The Jersey Shore,” owes almost $9 million in back taxes.
Allegedly, both Mike and his brother, Marc, filed false tax returns over a three-year period, from 2010 through 2012.
The Brothers Sorrentino are scheduled to appear in court in Newark, New Jersey this afternoon and each face federal charges of filing false returns and conspiracy.
According to US Attorney Paul J. Fishman,
“Michael and Marc Sorrentino filed false tax returns that incorrectly reported millions made from promotions and appearances. The brothers allegedly also claimed costly clothes and cars as business expenses and funneled company money into personal accounts. The law is absolutely clear: Telling the truth to the IRS is not optional.
“The Situation” could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted of these crimes.
But really, does this surprise anyone? He was a scumbag on the TV show, and he’s a scumbag in real life.
