The top high school player in the Class of 2014, Jahlil Okafor, was in attendance at Rupp Arena on Monday night to watch John Wall, Anthony Davis, Eric Bledsoe and other NBA players put on a show at the University of Kentucky Alumni Charity Game. The event not only dazzled Jahlil and the near 20k in attendance but raised more than a million dollars.
“It’s a state of basketball,” John Wall said, “so it’s not surprising to me knowing that anytime you put something together and this great group of guys come back, it’s all like a brotherhood. Coach Cal and the University of Kentucky do a great job of getting everybody organized and putting stuff together. I’m happy to have the opportunity to come back and have fun and put on a show for the fans.”
To nobody’s surprise except for maybe Eric Bledsoe who told Wall he “wasn’t going for 40,” John Wall scored 40 and led his team to a 111-95 victory. Brandon Knight scored 30 and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist finished with 26 points 14 rebounds and 5 assists.
Anthony Davis had the most memorable shots of the night including a buzzer beating 3 pointer at the end of the first and past half court buzzer beater before half-time.
