LeBron James went into Wednesday nights game needing only 18 points to surpass 20,000 career points. Fans didn’t have to wait long to see him meet this milestone, as he reached the mark by halftime.
James at the age of 28 years and 18 days became the youngest player to achieve this milestone and only the 4th player to reach it before the age of 30 (Bryant, Chamberlain, Jordan).
As if scoring 20,000 points wasn’t enough LeBron also exceeded 5,000 career assists Wednesday night becoming only the 13th player in NBA history with 20,000 points and 5,000 assists.
LeBron having also surpassed the 5,000 rebound mark last season, is only the 11th player in NBA history with 20,000 points 5,000 rebounds and 5,000 assists.
With LeBron putting up such gaudy numbers and just entering the prime of his career it’s hard to think of what his career totals will be when it’s all said and done. One thing is for sure, when LeBron decides to call it quits his name will be all over the NBA record books.
