7-Foot freshman Mohamed Bamba impressed in his Texas Longhorn debut on Tuesday. Playing just 15 minutes in a 96-84 scrimmage victory against Dandenong, the former Ballislife All-American had 5 boards and scored 14 points with his first points coming off a three pointer. After throwing down a two-hand alley-oop dunk, his next bucket was a long two with a defender in his face. A couple of his other buckets came off of a nice throwback jump hook and a coast-to-coast runner.
“I want to be as assertive as I can be out there,” Bamba said via The Sydney Morning Herald. “A wise man once told me “don’t compete, dominate” as there is a big difference between competing and dominating. I wanted to set the precedent early.”
The leading scorer for the Longhorns was another former Ballislife All-American, Andrew Jones, who finished with 16 points on 5 of 8 shooting, 6 boards, 5 assists and will probably be joining Bamba at next year’s NBA draft.
