“It’s not just about the uniform and it’s not just about the cleat, it’s the combination of the two that creates an innovative, head-to-toe performance system to help enable football players to be faster and more comfortable,” says Todd Van Horne, Creative Director for Nike Football. Nike has re-engineered and improved upon its football uniform and cleat for utmost fit and comfort, forming the Vapor Untouchable Performance system. The uniform boasts minimal seams and fewer panels to improve stretch, mobility, range of motion and durability. Emulating shrink wrap, the uniform is harder to grab by the opposing team. Weighing in at only 20.4 ounces, it’s also exceptionally light. As for the cleat, 3D printing technology has made it possible to test and map all its stress points virtually. It’s also the lightest and most adaptive cleat. A result of 21 months of research and design, the cleat and uniform combination marks a step forward for football uniformas and performance.
