A fifty five year old man escaped what any onlooker what deem a certain death when he was run over by a train on Sunday. Benigno Nazario lost his footing while boarding attempting to board, landing him onto the tracks at Times Square, New York on the closing day of a weekend he was spending with his wife, Ana, taking a tour of Manhattan.

A handicapped father of two lost his balance making the sometimes unexpectedly long step from the train to a platform.

Terrified at the sight of her husband on the tracks, Mrs. Nazario told the New York Post she reacted in fright, screaming and crying “Help!” “I thought he was going to die,” Nazario said.

Miraculously, the express train instead shot over the small crater he had fallen into and Benigno emerged.

The train operator saw the fallen man from ahead and slammed on the brakes, bringing the train to a halt partially over Nazario’s body.

Conscious but in pain from several internal injuries, rescue workers pulled Nazario from beneath the train and transported him to Belluvue hospital.

However, two broken ribs and a punctured lung couldn’t keep the overjoyed Benigno from expressing his gracious shock that he was still breathing.

” I’m born again — I have another chance at life!’ he told his wife as he lay in his hospital bed. Mrs. Nazario reported him to be “doing OK.”
The two were visiting from Connecticut to commemorate Mrs Nazario’s remaining in good health after her victory over breast cancer three years ago. Benigno’s fall happened after a helicopter tour of the city, as they were taking the train to a sight-seeing trip around Time Square.
