Veteran wide receiver Steve Smith didn’t want to leave his longtime home of Charlotte North Carolina. Smith was forced out due to his age and what he and his agent was asking for in a new contract.
Rather than pay an aging star, the Carolina Pantners felt it would be best to cut ties with the 5-time Pro Bowler.
Smith wound up with the Baltimore Ravens. Since signing with the Ravens, it seems like it’s been his mission to make sure the Panthers realize what they are missing.
When the two teams played this season, Smith exploded for seven catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-10 victory over Carolina.
He talked much trash to his opposing team after the game. It’s good to see that time hasn’t made Smith feel any different about his old team. It’s still, “f***” them whenever he’s asked.
In fact, the veteran receiver revealed during an interview on Jim Rome on Showtime that he is looking forward to using the $5 million dollar check that the Panthers had to give Smith when they released him to go on a vacation during the Baltimore Ravens’ bye week in Week 11.
