English luxury automaker Rolls-Royce confirms that they are working on their first ever luxury SUV. The move seems to be an attempt to rival Lamborghini and Bentley, two companies also working on their own luxury SUV models. Despite the economic situation in the United States, SUVs and luxury 4x4s are in high demand in places like China.
Rolls-Royce is not alone when it comes to their first ever attempt at producing a SUV. English automaker Jaguar is also taking a stab at the 4×4, which will throw them into the market with the big players in the industry.
The Rolls-Royce CEO says that the ideas and plans for the SUV are coming fast, and there are already renderings and drawings of what it could very well look like. How exciting! Designers are trying to make sure that they keep the look and feel of the company alive when creating this SUV.
“SUV is expected to have styling influenced by the Wraith and Ghost. We even might get to see the suicide doors, made famous by Rolls Royce, on this SUV.” – Luxury Launches
Eager to see an official concept version of the Rolls-Royce SUV? Well, you’re going to have to be patient and wait around until 2015. If all goes well, the earliest we’ll see an actual production model of the SUV will be in 2017. The English automaker is going to have to act fast, now that their rival, Bentley, has already shown us their SUV, which is set to start selling in 2016!
