Adding further to its holiday 2019 release slate, Jordan Brand has presented a new Air Jordan 14 dubbed the “Black Ferrari.” Michael Jordan‘s affection for high-performance Italian automobiles is well-known, so this marks the third time that an AJ14 has drawn inspiration from Ferrari: a “Yellow Ferrari” style released this June, while the original red suede-equipped “Ferrari” hit shelves back in 2014.
As can be gleaned from the shoe’s moniker, the main difference from past iterations is indeed the colorway. Where the other two AJ14s in the series used bold racing tones, the “Black Ferrari” instead looks to the interiors of high-end automobiles, using a stark black on the upper that’s split between perforated leather on the lateral side and quilted wool on the medial side.
Of course, there’s still plenty of race-ready details to be had as well, the most notable of which is the carbon fiber print on the midsole, an embellishment that accents the outsole’s metallic red shank and exhaust vent-style mesh pieces. There’s more to be had under the hood as well, thanks to Zoom Air cushioning embedded in the midsole. Branding on the spoiler-like tongue and the alternate jeweled midfoot badge complete the look.
The Air Jordan 14 “Black Ferrari” releases on December 1 — Cyber Monday — on Nike JP and at select retailers for $200 USD.
