‘Tis the season to buy sh*t.
From Black Friday all the way through the New Year, it’s all about buying and receiving gifts — which can be a very nice thing, if you’re getting things you actually want, that is.
But as we all know too well, most people aren’t the best gift givers. It’s not that they don’t try, they just don’t know what we really want.
You know grandma is going to knit you that sweater, just like you know mom is going to get you yet another winter jacket, scarf or pair of gloves.
If you’re lucky, they’ll come with gift receipts.
But there’s more to the holidays than simply spending money and giving/getting stuff. It’s about showing those people who are most important to you how much you truly care for them. It’s about spending time with those you love and enjoying the holiday season.
With that being said, there are a few things on your man’s Holiday Wish List that you may really want to consider getting him.
Some men will be straight with you and tell you exactly what it is that they want, but many I know for a fact won’t.
For that reason, I’ve compiled a fail-safe Holiday Wish List that’s guaranteed to make your boyfriend very happy this holiday season.
But then again, maybe he’s been on Santa’s naughty list. I’ll let you decide.
1. Sex
Of course, this one is first on the list. Not to be cliché, but it’s the honest truth.
There is no man in the world who will say no to his girlfriend dressing up like naughty Ms. Claus, straddling his knees and telling him what she wants for Christmas.
Or maybe you guys aren’t into dressing up. That doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun. Maybe there’s something he’s been dying to try. Maybe there’s something you’ve been dying to try. Chances are he’ll be okay with whatever.
The holiday season is a great time to explore your sexuality. Have a little fun. There’s no shame in being his Ho-Ho-Ho for the night.
Or maybe he likes it the other way around. Personally, I’m not into being dominated, but I don’t judge. Grab that candy cane, and give him a good rapping. Time away from you.
2. Time away from you
Not necessarily right now — it is the holiday season after all — but you may want to consider giving him a few extra nights with the boys for the next month or two.
Maybe let him go out drinking on a school night. Maybe cancel date night one week so that he can go watch the game or play the new Call of Duty until five in the morning.
You should never worry about giving your man a little space because giving him space will only make him want to hold on to you tighter. That’s just the way guys are.
Maybe even go one step further and actually buy him and his best friend a ticket to see their favorite team play.
3. Time with you
Space is great when space is what you want, but your boyfriend loves you, so it only makes sense that he would love to go on a little getaway together.
Maybe plan a romantic ski weekend, or take a daytrip and go hiking. The winter season makes for beautiful scenery — you’ll both have a great time and build incredible memories.
Use the time the two of you have and make it special. Make it magical. Women aren’t the only ones that enjoy a bit of romance in their lives. It’s just that the responsibility has traditionally fallen on men. So maybe it’s time for you to do some wooing.
4. A couple of “Get Out Of Jail Free” cards
Let’s be honest: There’s about a 100 percent chance your man is going to end up in the doghouse sometime in the near future. It’s inevitable.
We all make mistakes, but men tend to be a little less sensitive to women’s feelings than women are, generally speaking, which is why so many claim it’s impossible to understand women.
You can’t really blame him for not knowing when he says or does something stupid. I mean, you can, but you have to do it in a way that helps him learn.
Giving him a few “Get Out Of Jail Free” cards will help him understand when he’s acting dumb and, at the same time, avoid irreversibly damaging the relationship.
Make sure to add fine-print though — you don’t want him thinking he can get away with murder.
