Realistically, there’s not much Snoop Dogg can’t do. The 42-year-old West Coast rap legend isn’t just known for busting gats or spitting rhymes anymore. He’s expanded well beyond that.
He’s an accomplished businessman, actor and now you can add pipeline to the NFL among other things on that list.
The Snoop Youth Football League (SYFL) is renowned for producing some of the top football talent coming out of Southern California, most specifically Long Beach, and now we’re starting to see the results of Snoop’s labor as the 2014 NFL Draft turned out three of his alumni.
Running back De’Anthony Thomas out of Oregon, cornerback Kam Jackson out of Cal and cornerback Greg Ducre from Washington State were all taken by the Chiefs, Chargers and Colts, respectively.
We already heard about the high school out in Florida that spit out three players in this draft, but considering that Snoop’s is a youth league, it’s even more impressive. He caught up with TMZ and had this to say about his proud moment.
They all got scooped up. We’re very happy and very proud of these kids. I feel good about the guys that are coming out this year, the year after… and the kids that are in the league right now.
It’ll be interesting to see if his son Cordell Broadus (class of 2015) can make his daddy proud by breaking out like these guys, as the 6’2″ wide receiver is still deciding which college to attend.
It’ll be a couple more years until we found out. If this keeps up, Snoop should think about getting a coaching gig soon!
