A UI student has been accused of taking his clothes off and singing loudly at the Old Capitol Town Center while under the influence.
Nathan Fleming, 22, 326 N. Dubuque St., was charged Tuesday with trespassing, consumption/intoxication, and disorderly conduct.
According to an Iowa City police complaint, Fleming was acting strangely in the Old Capitol mall, taking his clothes off, singing loudly, speaking gibberish, and throwing his belongings in the recycling bin.
Mall security responded to the disturbance after other patrons or business owners complained to security officials. Fleming was reportedly asked to leave numerous times but ignored requests from mall security, the complaint said.
When officers asked Fleming, he said he was smoking marijuana “chronic” and continued to act strangely.
Trespassing, consumption/intoxication and, and disorderly conduct are serious misdemeanors.
