Although smartphone batteries continue to get better with each new model released, they have still not reached the point where we aren’t constantly nagged by worry of a dead smartphone after a long day. And until the day that a smartphone integrates a solar panel directly into its design, Danish startup infinityPV’s HeLi-on novel portable battery featuring a retractable solar panel is the closest we will get to an unlimited charge. Touted as the world’s most compact solar panel, the HeLi-on weighs a mere 103 grams and manages to pack a 2600 mAh lithium-ion battery that can be charged in 2-3 hours via solar energy, and is equivalent to 139% of the iPhone 6 battery capacity. The solar panel itself is a mere two micrometers thick, and can be quickly pulled out or wound back into the battery’s form factor. Support the product’s Kickstarter, and anticipate it to ship out in July 2016.
