Word on the street is that Apple is planning to stage the event at the new Steve Jobs Theater, even as the company is similarly racing against the clock to put the finishing touches on the phone itself. Production displays are attributed to problems with Touch ID integrated into the display, ultimately forcing Apple to ditch the technology entirely, as well as difficulties associated with the vertically aligned dual rear camera.
At this point, it’s almost a foregone conclusion that the iPhone 8 will start at $999, a substantial $350 price increase over the entry-level iPhone 7. Consequently, many users will likely opt for the cheaper iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, which will launch alongside the 8.
