The reigning Texas high school king of big stadium football, the Eagles of Allen High School will soon be dethroned by a cross town rival.
The school’s 18,000 seat, $60-million dollar stadium will soon be dethroned by a bigger, better stadium that will cost the McKinney school district a whopping $70-million dollars. The stadium, which will eliminate the need to hosts graduations and other area events at Cowboy Stadium, will be funded by the same five-year, $220-million bond package voters approved in May.
According to the LA Times, the perks the new stadium include,
The stadium — which will be outfitted with a 55-foot-wide, high-definition video screen and an artificial-grass field — is being built by the same construction company that did the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Park, where the Texas Rangers play. With seating for 12,000, it could accommodate half the enrollment of the entire 24,500-student, pre-K-to-12 district.
At this rate, college football will be a huge let down. Who needs D-1 when you can play in super bowl like conditions in high school.
