A high school student stabbed 20 people outside a Pittsburgh area high school this morning, moments before first period began.
The unnamed male suspect is in custody while the victims, ages 15 to 60 years old, have been taken to local hospitals to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.
At least four victims suffered serious wounds but no one has been reported to be in critical condition. Those four were flown to a hospital by an emergency helicopter and are currently being operated on.
The 60-year-old victim, the only adult harmed, is presumed to be a teacher or staff member.
The stabbing occurred just after a fire drill at around 7:15 am at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, about 15 miles from Pittsburgh.
The suspect, a student at Franklin Regional, ran into several classrooms and hallways in the science wing of the school where students were waiting for classes to begin.
He appears to have targeted anybody who happened to be in the area at the time.
Police had gotten the situation under control by 7:30 am.
The motive for the attack remains unclear.
