Most aspiring student DJs just play at your classic fraternity party or local bar, but Ed Clark (CODEKO is his DJ name) is performing at major festivals around the world. He studies material science at one of England’s top universities — University of Cambridge. He’s currently a Junior and has always had a passion for science, almost as much as he does for music.
Codeko just wrapped up his US tour, including three college stops, which were his definite highlights. I am still amazed by the fact that he performed six shows in eight days and studied for two finals when he wasn’t DJing. He performed at Beta Theta Pi at the University of Arizona, Sigma Pi at UCLA and Aepi at Georgia Tech University. They don’t have fraternities in the UK so he had the time of his life performing in front of thousands of sorority girls and out-of-control brothers. For him, it was an ey opening experience, to say the least.
I can only imagine being a full-time student and a full-time DJ, let alone studying a very difficult major and on the club rugby team. You’ll never see him without his material science textbook. Sometimes he even brings it back stage with him, while Tiesto or some other famous DJ is performing. Well, that’s not true, but props for managing it all.
Codeko started his music career at a very young age, playing piano as a toddler. He actually won a classical music scholarship to high school in London. It was when he turned 16 that he got into electronic music. He has always been into computers so when he picked up DJing it was second nature. He utilizes his instrumental skills by creating melodies on his piano to start all of his songs.
