It was confirmed by a report on Saturday that the first genetically modified humans were created as a part of an ongoing experiment at the Institute of Reproductive Medicine and Science of St Barnabas in New Jersey.
Two of the babies that were tested after their birth contain genes from three parents, two women and one male.
The babies were born to women who had trouble conceiving, with extra genes given from a female donor inserted into the eggs before they were fertilized to help them conceive.
It was reported that 30 babies were born through genetic modification experiments with altered germ lines, something that is shunned by a vast majority of the world’s scientists.
