Many people are preparing for a zombie apocalypse, and one school in California has gone so far, it is even offering a course on how to assimilate in a zombie-infested world.
The University of California Irvine, inspired by the television series “The Walking Dead,” is offering a course that takes lessons from the popular AMC series and applies it to a potential zombie invasion.
The course, “Society, Science, Survival: Lessons from AMC’s The Walking Dead,” gives students the opportunity to learn exactly what they need to do in order to avoid being attacked by zombies if a zombie apocalypse actually happens.
The course features scenes from the popular TV show, as well as information directly form those who created the show.
The course does take some real world knowledge and applies it to a potential zombie apocalypse, as physics lessons are incorporated in the lectures.
“There’s kind of something for everyone in the class,” said mathematics lecturer Sarah Eichorn, one of the four lecturers of the course. “I think for all four of us, it’s an opportunity to get students interested and aware in our fields.
“I never expected to be recording lecture videos where I’m talking about decapitating people in my mathematics lecture.”
Is this a waste of a course or a fun elective that could one day prove useful?
