The star quarterback for a mid-state football team and two of his classmates have been charged with rape of a child. Police arrested 18-year-old Princeton Harlan Wednesday morning at Mt. Pleasant High School in Maury County. Harlan was accused of having sex with a 12-year-old middle school student over the summer.

“Rape of a child is anytime somebody under the age of 13 has sex is considered rape of a child. The girl in the case went to her biological mother and told her she thought she was pregnant. That’s what started us investigating the case,” said Anthony Bailey with the Maury County Sheriff’s Office.

Two other Mt. Pleasant High School students, a 17-year-old and 16-year-old, were also arrested in connection with the case. Their names were not released as they were charged as juveniles.

Detectives said the 12-year-old became pregnant after all three teens had consensual sex with her on separate occasions.

Harlan was released from Maury County Jail Monday afternoon on a $100,000 bond.

Maury County Public Schools officials said the district cannot comment on the case.

Harlan has been mentioned as a prospective recruit for several college football programs, including Vanderbilt, Auburn, and Mississippi State.
