The Federal Trade Commission fined Google a record $22.5 million after it was reported and confirmed that Google tricked Safari into accepting cookies from websites, thus monitoring its users’ movements across the web.
Google, who agreed to pay the full fine, claimed that it was only trying to work around it’s “+1” button issue and had no intent of tracking users’ movements online.
